about

The OctoberFresh Beat Tape is essentially an exercise in consistency and productivity. If you feel like it is an album of non-sequiturs, you're right. If you feel like it doesn't really have a unified or thematic sound, you're also kind of right. The only feature common to all these tracks is that I either began or worked on all of them during the month of October 2010. My initial attempt was 1 beat per day, but that soon reduced itself to simply 31 days, 31 beats. As a composer and performing musician (keys, drums, bass, guitar) it was at times hard to be a producer and...well, produce something. In attempting the OctoberFresh project, I figured that yea, I would have some less-than-amazing material, but I would also end up with some quality beats just by virtue of pure diligence and quantity. The result is the OctoberFresh Beat Tape -- one month's work, unmixed, unmastered, unedited, unabashed music. Hopefully, there's a day here in October for you. (Special thanks to J. Daise of the Brothers Handsome who helped me out with some consulting/bass playing on some tracks)
